club blog

I found this awesome club and this is why I joined.

At ClubFest, I found some very interesting clubs. Some that I jumped right in line to sign up for and some that were not exactly what I was looking for. Before I went to ClubFest, I made the goal to sign up for atleast one "fun" club and one club that does community service like activities-a way to give back to the community of Ames. I ended up signing up for the running club, Student Volunteer Services, and Habitat for Humanity. Running being my "fun" option and Student Volunteer Services and Habitat for Humanity being my community service.

Throughout high school, I was always intrigued by Habitat for Humanity and their functions, especially after Hurricane Katrina had its effect on New Orleans. Because of this, I was very excited when I saw a booth at ClubFest for Habitat for Humanity. At the informational meeting, we learned about some of the projects Habitat is working on currently. We also learned about upcoming opportunities to get involved. I have never built anything in my life, but I am really hoping that there is some way that I can get involved in helping build houses for families in need of a good home. I am excited about the upcoming opportunities to make friends and give back this organization has to offer.
